Lesli-Ann Belnavis Elliott, MS, ATR is the Founder and Director of Art Therapy Jamaica. She is a Registered Art Therapist (ATR) and a graduate from Florida State University where she received a Master of Science degree in Art Therapy and a Bachelor of Science degree in Studio Art. She was the founder and was the President of the Caribbean Art Therapy Association from 2011-2018.
Belnavis Elliott believes in the power of art therapy and its impact on a person’s emotions and ability to help persons reflect, articulate and resolve difficult situations.
Belnavis Elliott has conducted creative arts-based clinical assessments and art therapy sessions with clients of various ages, abilities, presenting concerns and socio-economic backgrounds. She has worked as an Art Therapist in Jamaica for the past 11 years in different settings, namely schools and a children’s home for children and adults with various physical and developmental disabilities, a correctional facility and place of safety for teenage girls, a nursing home, community centres and projects, church groups and private practice with children and adults dealing with grief, trauma, hyperactivity and focus concerns, behavioural problems in school, abuse and substance abuse concerns, family dynamics, depression, and emotional support for persons and families dealing with medical conditions and/or physical disabilities.
